New Delhi, January 8 All India Milli Council (AIMC) has severely condemned the sudden orders of Allahabad-based North Central Railways DRM Harendra Rao to cancel the allotment of room for AMU at Aligarh Railway Station.
AIMC General Secretary Dr Mohammed Manzoor Alam said the room had remained with the Proctor Staff of the university for decades. Recalling his days as an alumnus, he said AMU had been enjoying privileges of a separate petrol station and gas agency for its students and staff apart from a room on railway station from where authorities were able to maintain discipline among students and provide facilities.
It is to point out that the AMU community accounted for more than fifty percent of revenue generated from Aligarh railway station and the current remark and order of DRM might harm interests of the railways in future as the order would be dealt with as a provocation.
According to Mushtaq Ahmed Alig, Advocate-on-Record, Supreme Court of India, the remarks of the DRM have sent shock waves among the AMU community the world-wide.
