New Delhi, January 8 The 99th Indian Science Congress will be held in Bhubaneswar from January 3 to 7, 2012. It was decided at the 4-day 98th Indian Science Congress that concluded at the SRM University, Kattankulathur (Tamil Nadu) on January 7. Delivering the valedictory address, SRM University Chancellor T R Pachamuthu said the event was hosted on an estimated outlay of Rs 12 crore.
While the executive committee of the Indian Science Congress Association remained the apex body, the university had formed 26 committees to make the event successful. There were 17 plenary sessions and 14 sectional programmes dwelling on the focal theme, including six lectures by Nobel laureates, attended by more than 8,000 delegates. General President of the congress Prof K C Pande and SRM University Vice Chancellor P Sathyanarayanan spoke. Awards were presented to the best poster designs and exhibits.
